Ford Motor history

The Ford Motor Company is an American multinational company based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Car maker founded by Henry Ford and was founded on June 16, 1903. In addition to Ford, Lincoln and Mercury brand, Ford also has Sweden's Volvo Car, and a small share of the Japanese Mazda and Aston Martin of England. Ford's former UK subsidiaries Jaguar and Land Rover were sold to Tata Motors of India in March 2008.

Ford introduced methods for large-scale large-scale automobile manufacturing and workforce management manufacturing engineered using complex sequences are indicated by moving assembly line. Henry Ford's methods came to be known throughout the world as Fordism by 1914.

Ford is currently the fourth largest car in the world based on the number of vehicles sold each year, just behind the Volkswagen. In 2007, Ford dropped from second to third in the annual U.S. vehicle sales for the first time in 56 years, behind only General Motors and Toyota. However, sometimes the Toyota outsells Ford in a shorter period (most recently, during the months of summer 2009).

In 2008, Ford has become the second largest car in Europe (only behind Volkswagen), with sales exceeding sometimes the people in the United States and major markets in Germany, Italy, and the United Kingdom. Ford is ranked seventh overall company based in the United States in 2008 Fortune 500 list, based on global revenues in 2008 of $ 146.3 billion.

In 2008, Ford produced 5532 million cars and employs approximately 213,000 employees in around 90 factories and facilities around the world. Beginning in 2007, Ford received more initial quality survey awards from JD Power and Associates than other cars.
